Snow tubing in the Poconos, Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, January 18-20, 2008

Camelback has replaced their old tube lifts with a new conveyor belt system to take riders and tubes to the top of the lifts. This allows more people to get to the top faster.
Scouts would get a tube and take it to the top on the belt, then slide down one of the chutes. They could also select a family size tube and ride down in groups of 4.
Lunch was served in the parking lot – plans were to use the ski lodge, but it was way to crowded, so we improvised.
After lunch, swimming was held at the Poconos YMCA. After a briefing on the Safe Swim Plan, and rules from the YMCA, Scouts had a chance to have some fun in the water. Some just played games and goofed off, some worked on swimming and diving skills. The older Scouts were permitted to relax in the hot tub.
Accompanying the troop on this trip was the District Training Chairman, who took time to work with some of our “soon to be” Boy Scouts (Webelos who cross over in six weeks) doing Dutch Oven cooking. With their assistance we had two good batches of sticky buns for a snack.
The evening ended with a traditional campfire, and a good nights sleep.
