March Camping at Hidden Valley

Troop 205 went to Hidden Valley Scout Reservation for the weekend dedicated to Scout Skills and have a lot of fun. Brian Diehl, Ethan Brainard, Logan McCoy, Dylan billings, Eric Stevenson, Greg Chinery, Adam Simmons, and Merle Bernhard travelled to HVSR with Steve Brainard, John Weston, and "Mac", drove up Friday night.

After speaking with the Scouts the Governor posed for pictures with the Scouts and also signed his autograph for a few of our Scouts.

Saturday morning the troop woke up and dressed in their best "Class A" uniforms. They then attended a Breakfast with Governor Tom Corbett in the HVSR dining hall. The Governor spoke to the Scouts about how life in PA has changed since he was a Scout and about how the lessons he learned about honesty, integrity, service, and teamwork have helped him throughout his adult life.

After settling into the Cabin the Scouts were challenged to complete a 4-Scout Team Push-up. Even though the Scouts were unable to do the "Push-up; they did learn about teamwork and had fun!

After Dinner Brian Diehl conducted a Camp-fire program to complete another requirement for his Communications Merit Badge, and the Scouts were challenged to build towers from a mixed bag of 'stuff'. After half an hour, the towers were judged... 1 team had built a very stable tower about 20 inches tall while the second teams tower was nearly 4 feet long, but due to its flexibility, stood only about 2 feet tall. Everyove had a great time and learned about lashings, knots, and a little engineering.

We all returned to GUMC at about noon Sunday where the Scouts stored the Troop Gear in the Closet and everyone went home for a little rest and recovery time, before going to work & School on Monday. Another successful, fun-filled Troop 205 weekend :-)
